| Description | Tall fast-growing evergreen tree which can grow up to 90 metres tall. The bark is pale grey and smooth, flowers are creamy white. The young leaves are bluish and oval shape whereby the mature leaves are long, narrow and yellow/green colour. |
| History | The 'eu' and 'kalypto' is from Greek, meaning 'well' and 'covered', referring to the blossom’s covered stamens. The Australian Aborigines have been using Eucalyptus ceremonially and medicinally for hundreds of years they call it 'kino', they used the leaves to cover serious wounds. |

| Common Uses | Eucalyptus oil has a cooling and deodorising effect on the body, helping with fevers, migraine and malaria. For the respiratory tract eucalyptus essential oil is useful in inhalations, it is head-clearing and promotes a natural sense of well-being, it also assists with coughs, asthma, throat infections, sinusitis and catarrhal conditions. It soothes inflammation and eases mucus, clearing the head from the stuffiness of colds and hay fever. The penetrating and warming qualities of eucalyptus essential oil make it useful in massage oil blends ideal for normal to oily skin for muscular fatigue, aches and pains, rheumatoid arthritis, sprains and poor circulation. In skin care it can be used for burns, blisters, herpes, cuts, wounds, skin infections and insect bites. It can furthermore boost the immune system and is helpful in cases of chicken pox, colds, flu and measles.
