| Description | Much-branched shrub, stems are hairy when young, becoming woody with age. Leaves are velvety and soft to the touch due to the presence of numerous glandular hairs. The leaves are strongly rose-scented. White to pinkish flowers. |
| History | The name geranium has come from Greek word, Geranos, which means "crane" because the seed pods of geraniums are shaped like the beak of a crane. Geraniums were formerly considered major curative plants and have been used since ancient times as a natural remedy for tumors and wounds. For centuries they were planted around cottages to keep away evil spirits. |
